While living in a 25-year-old home in Geneva, IL (Chicago suburb), where winters get quite cold and summers get very hot… I noticed a significant draft at the bottom of our windows during the winter months, where cold air was entering the home.

The house had Anderson double-hung windows with crescent swing locks to open / close them and ultimately, secure them shut.

I also noticed the top and bottom windows when closed, were not flush (same height), which was a clear indication that they had shifted / moved with age and extreme weather conditions. The gaps were causing the windows to leak.

In an effort to reduce the air drafts and the heating and cooling bills, I developed a prototype to test a solution that would raise the upper window and lower the bottom window… while securing that position through the window crescent swing lock.

The prototype worked and was very effective… DRAFTeeze™ was born!
